Actualy a lot of people are "serious Role players" and trust me, most of them are not "dorks". Its like saying all video gamers are fat kids when truly almost none of them are.

I do play table top RPGs and Pc RPGs a lot, but to be honest with you, I was a Muai Tai (Tai Boxing) Instructor for a few years and now I do security and P.I. work. I'm in shape and got a hot girlfriend. So if I'm a dork, then I guess Its a good life to be one.

I know what you mean, about a month ago I was hangin' out in Ascalon's international district and people were speakin' like this was somethin' out of a low-budget shakespeare film. "Should we not venture on, my lord?" "Quite right, Arainia, tis about time to move onward on our journey" "My lord, I shall bring extra salvaging tools whilst we prepare" ...

I was sitting here like..."Right..." Then I said something like "Shall I bring the "this is 2005" along as well?" And then they were all like "Come, Arainia, let us not listen to such mindless dribble from a lowly peasant"

Kinda pissed me off, actually. Can't they do that over teamspeak?

hahahah , well , rpg doesnt mean you have to speak like shakespear , only if you want ... lol

you just pretend you are your caracter , if you want your char to speak like shakespear , then do it , but if you want him to speak like california dudes , its ok also.

you can even be your selfe while rping

the way i see it , you just have to not mention your are in a game , or that whats hapaning is not really hapaing.

EX :

while rping you dont say : my toon is ulgy , you say im ugly ...

and the person will know you are talking about the toon and not your real selfe body.

just move from third person to first

give a personality to your toon ...

you dont need to be nerd or a girl

just need an open mind.

anyways , you cant rp alone , other must be rping also , or it will make no sence at all

PieXags has enough personality for 8 characters, there's no need to "role play", every character I create it my essence in digital form. I'm just as badass as I am in real life in every single character I make, 'cause I get like, all the ladies and stuff...right? Heheh...right?

I completely understand what you mean by RP. Taking the roll of your character. Pretending you are in its place. Making your character act as a character would act on its own. Actually every sentence I write makes it more and more wrong.

Just understand this: I know what RP is, most of us do.

And yes... its true... hardly anyone actually Role Plays in this game. There is way too much spam is probably the main reason why.

See, sometimes it can be fun to roleplay just to piss people like MCS off

"Are you from England?"
"I'm a Krytan pureblood, and although I'm well travelled I've never heard of such a place as... England"
"What???"
"What's the matter? got straw for brains?"

And it just gets worse from there. Just like some people don't get the appeal of trash talking some just can't dal with role play talk.

Personally I think that most roleplay is awful as it consists as in the examples given here of some misplaced shakesperian faux medieval parlance

Take alook at the dialogue used by the NPC's in GW - It's not like that at all. It's stylised but not overly so.

i.e "Die you mangy beasts!" "Pray to Balthazar for this is a day we may not see the end of"

or Roriks classic, paraphrased "When I was a child, this was all fields"

I love to role play I do it when playing D&D all the time. Or when you play those murder mystery party games (they are so fun) but I don't do it on the game all the time...its fun to role play somethings with your friends but thats about it.
